Salzburg
Salzburg is the fourth-largest city in Austria and the capital of the federal state of Salzburg.
Salzburg's "Old Town" with its world famous baroque architecture is one of the best-preserved city centres
in the German-speaking world, and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
The city is noted for its Alpine setting. It is the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Munich
Munich is the capital city of Bavaria, Germany. Munich is not the only location within Bavaria known as "München",
three locations exist. The one which is known as "Munich", another which is northeast of the city of Nuremberg,
and also a town north of the city of Passau. Munich is located on the River Isar north of the Bavarian Alps.
Munich is the third largest city in Germany. Ahead of it are Berlin in first place and Hamburg in second.
There are approximately 1.35 million inhabitants within Munich.The city's motto is "München mag dich"
("Munich loves you").
Hallstatt
Hallstatt The name Hall is most probably from the old Celtic name for salt, the salt mines near the village being an
important factor. Salt was a valuable resource, so the region was historically very wealthy. It is possible to tour
the world's first salt mine, located above downtown Hallstatt. The village also gave its name to the early Iron
Age Hallstatt culture and is a World Heritage Site for Cultural Heritage. Hallstatt is a popular tourist attraction
owing to its small-town appeal and can be toured on foot in ten minutes.
Cesky Krumlov
Cesky Krumlov is a small city in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, best known for the fine architecture
and art of the historic old town and Cesky Krumlov Castle. Old Cesky Krumlov is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The city is named Český Krumlov ("Bohemian Krumlov") to differentiate it from Moravský Krumlov ("Moravian Krumlov")
in the southeast of the country.
Linz
Linz is the third-largest city of Austria and capital of the state of Upper Austria (German: Oberösterreich).
It is located in the north centre of Austria, approximately 30 km south of the Czech border, on both sides of the
river Danube. The population of the city is 189,343 (2007), and that of the Greater Linz conurbation is 271,000.
Melk
is a city of Austria, in the federal state of Lower Austria, next to the Wachau valley along the Danube.
Melk has a population of 5,222 (as of 2001). The area around Melk was given to Margrave Leopold I in the year 976
to serve as a buffer between the Turks and Huns to east and Bavaria to the west.
In 996 mention was first made of an area known as Ostarichi - which is recognized as the origin of the word
Oesterreich (German for Austria).
Bratislava
also known by several other names) is the capital of Slovakia and, with a population of about 427,000, also the country's largest city Bordering Austria and Hungary, it is the only national capital that borders two countries.[2] It and Vienna are also two of Europe's closest national capitals, at less than 60 kilometres (37 mi) apart.
Budapest
As the largest city of Hungary, it serves as the country's principal political, cultural, commercial, industrial, and transportation center[2] and is considered an important hub in Central Europe.[3] In 2008, Budapest had 1,702,297 inhabitants[4] with an official agglomeration of 2,451,418,[5] down from a mid-1980s peak of 2.1 million. The city covers an area of 525 square kilometres (202.7 sq mi)[6] within the city limits. Budapest became a single city occupying both banks of the river Danube with the unification on 17 November 1873, of right-bank (west) Buda and Óbuda (Old Buda) together with Pest on the left (east) bank.
